Commonwealth Senior Living is hiring a Registered Medication Associate (RMA) at our New Baltimore community. The RMA delivers high-quality medication care, ensuring residents receive prescribed medications safely and with compassion, aligned to state standards.

The RMA role emphasizes confidentiality, weekend flexibility, and engagement as a Culture Ambassador, supporting residents, families, and the care team while maintaining a professional, supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have successfully completed coursework and examinations to obtain certification as a Resident Care Associate.
  • Continued education credits to maintain RMA certification and provide evidence as required by state regulations.
  • Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques and competency demonstrated via evaluation.
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain per policy.
  • Understand and practice resident confidentiality.
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible hours for resident care and services.
  • Demonstrate compassion and genuine concern for seniors and families.
  • Proficient with basic office equipment including a PC.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and safe delivery of the Medication Management Program.
  • Adhere to established policies and state regulations when administering medications.
  • Administer and record medications for residents as prescribed by physicians.
  • Present medications to residents and observe ingestion or other administration techniques.
  • Observe, record, and report adverse reactions or side effects; collaborate with the Resident Care Director.
  • Document on the Daily Shift Communication Log with updates, changes, concerns and follow ups.
  • Demonstrate safe handling of controlled substances including shift counts and reporting discrepancies.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies; report issues for repair.
  • Record vital signs as indicated during medication administration.
  • Restock and reorder medications from the pharmacy as needed.
  • Document pertinent information in resident records and complete incident reports.
  • Follow infection control practices per OSHA Blood-Borne Pathogen Standard.
  • Communicate accurately with residents and staff and seek guidance when needed.
  • Provide verbal encouragement and support to residents.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment; present a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Attend required in-service trainings and participate in shifts as needed.
  • Act as a shift supervisor when appropriate.
