Qualifications

• Certification as Resident Care Associate completed with exam.
• Continuing education credits required to maintain certification.
• Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Understand and practice resident confidentiality.
• Ability to work weekends and flexible hours.
• Proven compassion for seniors and families.
• Proficient with basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assists in monitoring and safe delivery of the Medication Management Program.
• Adheres to policies and state standards when administering medications.
• Administers and records medications for residents as prescribed.
• Presents medications and observes ingestion or other administration methods.
• Observes and reports adverse effects and communicates with the Resident Care Director.
• Documents medication effectiveness and refusals as required.
• Stores medications safely and maintains accountability.
• Documents in the daily shift log with updates and concerns.
• Counts controlled substances and reports discrepancies.
• Inspects equipment and maintains a safe environment for residents.
• Records vital signs as indicated during administration.
• Restocks medication inventories and re-orders as needed.
• Documents pertinent information in resident records and incident reports.
• Maintains infection control practices per OSHA standards.
• Communicates clearly with residents and staff; seeks guidance when needed.
• Maintains professional demeanor and supports residents and families.
• Participates in trainings and assumes shift supervisor duties when needed.
