Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Registered Medication Associate (RMA) to provide high quality care by assisting with medications in accordance with state licensing and regulatory standards.

The RMA will administer medications, document accurately, monitor residents, and maintain confidentiality while demonstrating compassion for seniors and families. Open Interviews are held every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 651 River Walk Pkwy, Chesapeake.

Qualifications

• Certification as Resident Care Associate completed.
• Maintain CE credits to keep RMA certification.
• Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Understand and practice resident confidentiality.
• Ability to work weekends and flexible hours.
• Compassion for seniors and families.
• Proficient with basic office equipment including a PC.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring and safe delivery of the Medication Management Program.
• Adhere to all established policies and procedures when administering medications.
• Administer and record the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician.
• Present medication to residents and observe ingestion or other administration techniques.
• Observe, record, and report adverse reactions or side effects of medications and seek input from the Resident Care Director.
• Determine and record effectiveness of medications in a timely and accurate manner.
• Document refusals of medications and reasons for non-administration.
• Store medications in a safe and accurate manner.
• Monitor medications to ensure accountability during order, receipt, administration, and shift change.
• Document updates in the Daily Shift Log with resident and medication updates.
