Job summary

Merrimack Health is hiring a nursing assistant to assist the health care team in implementing the plan of care. The role includes discharge prep, safety surveillance, and timely reporting of pain and ethical concerns.

You will transport patients, assist with transfers, and help keep equipment and supplies stocked. Applicants must have American Red Cross BLS certification; orientation will be provided if needed.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required; orientation provided if not already achieved.

Responsibilities

• Assist with discharge preparation, including belongings check, wheelchair, and escort.
• Recognize safety risks and seek help; act as a preceptor for colleagues.
• Identify ethical issues and report to the RN promptly.
• Report patient pain to the primary RN in a timely manner.
• Transport patients safely between hospital areas.
• Assist in transferring patients to/from stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain and restock supplies and equipment; report malfunctions.
• Support hourly rounding using the 4Ps: Pain, Potty, Positioning, Personal Possessions.
• Maintain a clean, orderly environment and follow infection control policies.
• Deliver and pick up supplies, meds, labs, to/from other departments.
