Job summary

VITAS Healthcare seeks a Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide essential personal care for hospice patients in their homes. The role supports family caregivers and works under supervision of a VITAS Nurse, delivering hands-on care and basic clinical observations.

Responsibilities include maintaining hygiene, meal support, mobility assistance, and adherence to the care plan with reporting on changes in condition. Requires HS diploma and completion of required state training.

Qualifications

• State-required training/Certification as listed in 42 CFR 484.4 and 484.36.
• Documented evidence of 75 hours of training.
• Competency Evaluation program completion as described in 42 CFR 484.36(b).

Responsibilities

• Help patient maintain personal hygiene.
• Plan and prepare meals; assist with feeding as needed.
• Assist patient ambulation.
• Assist with treatments ordered by physician and supervised by nurse; support colostomy care, ROM exercises, dressings, and prescribed devices.
• Read, record temperature, pulse and respiration.
• Maintain safe environment and observe patient status, reporting changes to nurse.
