Job summary

VITAS Healthcare is seeking a Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide personal care and support to hospice patients in their homes. The role augments care by family members and requires reporting to the VITAS Nurse within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, meals, mobility, and simple treatments under nurse supervision, while maintaining documentation of patient status and ensuring safety in the home environment.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing ability to document patient status and instructions.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required by the job.
• Access to a telephone for in-home communication and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene and daily activities.
• Plan and prepare meals; assist with feeding when needed.
• Assist with ambulation and mobility.
• Follow physician orders and nurse guidance for treatments and care.
• Read and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration).
• Maintain a safe home environment and document changes in patient condition.
