Job summary

VITAS Healthcare seeks a Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide personal care and services to hospice patients, augmenting care from family and caregivers. This non-exempt role offers a competitive hourly wage and requires completion of required training and competency evaluation.

The HHA will follow a written assignment, assist with meals, mobility, and prescribed treatments under nurse supervision, and document patient status while maintaining a safe home environment.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read, write and carry out directions.
• Meets personnel qualifications of a Home Health Aide as specified in 42 C.F.R. sections 484.4 and 484.36.
• Requires 75 hours of training as specified in 42 C.F.R. 484.36 (a)(1).
• Must have completed a Competency Evaluation program as described in 42 C.F.R. 484.36(b).

Responsibilities

• Performs personal care activities as written in assignment.
• Maintains patient hygiene and prepares meals or assists with feeding.
• Assists with ambulation and activities of daily living.
• Assists with treatments under nurse supervision and plan of care.
• Reads and records vital signs and patient status.
• Maintains safe and healthy environment and reports changes to the nurse.
