Job summary

VITAS Healthcare seeks a Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide personal care and services to hospice patients under nurse guidance. The role supports families and caregivers and requires compliant documentation and compassionate patient interaction.

Responsibilities include hygiene, meals, mobility assistance, and observation of patient status with timely reporting to the VITAS Nurse and interdisciplinary team. Travel to patient homes is involved as needed.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes and follows directions.
• Must be able to travel as required by job.
• Access to a telephone in the home is required.
• Documented evidence of 75 hours of training as specified in regulations.
• Competency Evaluation program completed as described in regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and services to hospice patients.
• Plan and assist with meals and feeding as needed; assist with hygiene.
• Assist with patient ambulation and mobility.
• Assist with specified treatments under nurse supervision and plan of care.
• Read, record and report vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration).
