Job summary

Nurse Next Door offers compassionate in-home elder care with flexible hours in California. No prior experience required; positions available for 10–40 hours per week, with morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts.

Home care aides provide nonmedical assistance, must be 18+, meet CA registration and background check requirements, and have reliable transportation. Training and registration support are provided.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Must be registered with the CA Home Care Aide Registry.
• Completion of a criminal background check and disclosure of any past history as required by CA regulations.
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training per CA regulations.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing; no active TB.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Self-directed with minimal supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail or impaired.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Follow the client’s care plan as designed by the Care Designer.
• Assist with ADLs within the caregiver scope (dressing, bathing, hygiene).
• Assist with personal hygiene and grooming for clients.
• Assist with transfers, mobility, and ambulation as needed.
• Support prescribed exercises taught by health personnel.
• Plan and prepare meals; assist with therapeutic diets and eating.
• Assist with bathroom needs and incontinence care.
• Perform household tasks and errands; provide companionship.
• Remind clients about medications as directed.
• Report changes in client condition to administrator or care designer.
• Complete service records accurately.
• Drive to appointments or run errands.
• Maintain alertness and respond to client needs promptly.
• Participate in required training and maintain active Home Care Aide registration.
