Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking compassionate Home Care Aides in California to support seniors at home. Flexible 10–40 hours per week with morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts are available.

No experience required, with training and registration assistance provided by the company. Primary duties include assisting with ADLs, medication reminders, transportation, light housekeeping, and companionship.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Current registration with the State of California Home Care Aide Registry; paid training provided.
• Criminal background check completed and disclosure of any history.
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training prior to client care.
• Tuberculosis testing completed with no active TB.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
• Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist clients with personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
• Assist clients in and out of bed, transfers, positioning and ambulation.
• Assist with prescribed exercises taught by health personnel.
• Meal planning and preparation, including therapeutic diets, and assisting clients with eating.
• Assist clients to the bathroom or in using commodes and incontinence care.
• Perform housekeeping, laundry, transportation, shopping and companionship.
• Assist with medication reminders which are ordinarily self-administered.
• Report changes to the client’s condition to the administrator or care designer.
• Complete records regarding services performed.
• Drive to appointments or errands.
• Record all hours worked.
• Remain alert during shifts to provide needed assistance.
