Job summary

Nurse Next Door in California seeks compassionate home care aides to assist seniors at home with nonmedical support per a care plan, focusing on safety, dignity and independence.

Aides must be 18+, meet the CA Home Care Aide Registry and pass required background checks and TB testing. Training is provided. The role offers flexible hours from 10 to 40 hours per week, including mornings, afternoons and overnights.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with high school diploma or equivalent.
• Current registration with the California Home Care Aide Registry.
• Successful completion of background checks and training as required by CA.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing and no active TB.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Self-directed with minimal supervision and strong empathy.
• Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Assist with ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Support personal hygiene, bathing and dressing for clients.
• Assist with transfers, mobility and ambulation as needed.
• Assist with prescribed exercises taught by health professionals.
• Meal planning and preparation including therapeutic diets.
• Assist with bathroom needs and incontinence care.
• Perform household tasks such as housekeeping, laundry and shopping.
• Provide medication reminders and monitor changes in condition.
• Document services performed and maintain accurate records.
• Travel to appointments and errands; report to administrator as needed.
• Remain alert during shifts and participate in required training.
