Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the Emergency Department to be the calm, capable first connection for patients and families. You’ll register and admit patients, verify insurance, create or activate patient accounts, and explain financial responsibilities.

You’ll support bed placement, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with clinical teams, while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or 2 years of applicable experience in lieu of education).
• 2 years of customer service and/or healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and families in person and by phone.
• Register and admit patients for emergency, walk-in, and non-scheduled services.
• Create or activate patient accounts and enter accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and scan required documents.
• Support bed placement, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with clinical teams.
• Explain financial responsibility, collect payments when appropriate, and connect patients to financial assistance.
• Coordinate with case management and providers to ensure proper patient placement.
• Provide directions and guidance throughout the hospital as needed.
