Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the Emergency Department. You will be the first point of contact for patients and families, guiding them through registration, admissions, and next steps with professionalism, empathy, and accuracy.

In a fast-paced environment, you will verify insurance, collect payments when appropriate, assist with bed placement and transfers, and coordinate with care teams to ensure smooth patient flow while protecting confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 years of customer service and/or healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in fast-paced environments.
• Strong customer service skills with empathetic communication.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and families in person and by phone.
• Register and admit patients for emergency, walk-in, and non-scheduled services.
• Create or activate patient accounts and enter accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and scan required documents.
• Support bed placement, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with clinical teams.
• Explain financial responsibility, collect payments when appropriate, and connect patients to financial assistance.
• Coordinate with case management and providers to ensure proper patient placement.
• Provide directions and guidance throughout the hospital as needed.
