Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) to provide daily living assistance, support to residents, and light housekeeping in our senior living community in Charleston, SC. The role includes responding to resident needs, facilitating activities, and maintaining confidentiality in all resident information.

Responsibilities include assisting residents with activities of daily living, communicating with nursing staff, and ensuring safety during transfers.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing.
• Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor.
• Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push/carry 25 lbs.
• Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
• Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
• Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
• Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living.
• Perform housekeeping duties in resident apartments, common areas, and dining room as directed.
• Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
• Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
• Assist residents to and from dining room and activities, and monitor attendance at meals and events.
• Communicate status, upcoming information, appointments, admissions, and transfers to appropriate staff.
• Provide emotional support to new residents during move-in transitions.
