Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Columbia, SC is seeking a Resident Assistant/PCA to provide quality care and assist residents with daily living activities. You will respond to calls, support activities, and work with the nursing team under supervision.

Responsibilities include reporting incidents, assisting with meals and mobility, ensuring safety, and maintaining confidentiality; candidates must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have completed an approved personal care aide program per state regulations.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
• Must be polite to residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Must safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
• Must wear designated uniform during working hours with name badge.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days.
• Must represent the community professionally and attend required in-services.
• Must be willing to work flexible schedule including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Reports incidents involving residents to appropriate individuals.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Performs housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor.
• Responds promptly to resident calls and emergencies.
• Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
• Transfers residents to and from dining and activities.
• Monitors resident attendance at meals and activities.
• Reports resident status and appointments to relevant staff.
• Provides emotional support to new residents during move-in.
• Attends in-services and staff meetings; adheres to policies.
