Job summary

Hawaii Island Community Health Center is seeking a conscientious Call Center Operator to join our on-site team. You will manage a multi-line switchboard, greet callers, route calls, and deliver courteous customer service under the supervision of the Call Center Manager and Director of Patient Access.

Responsibilities include scheduling, registering new patients, updating demographic and insurance information, and maintaining records while upholding confidentiality and accessibility standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 6 months to 1 year of related experience or training.
• General office procedures knowledge (filing, copying, faxing).
• Ability to use a computer to enter patient data and retrieve information.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks within established deadlines.
• Strong communication skills with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Answer a high volume of inbound calls promptly and courteously.
• Screen calls and route to appropriate departments or individuals.
• Provide general information about programs, functions, and services.
• Assist with scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming clinic appointments.
• Forward calls for referrals, medication refills, and lab results to the correct departments.
• Maintain daily records of patient calls and encounters.
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude.
• Register new patients and update registration information in the chart.
