Job summary

Indiana University Health, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care and support for patients. You will assist with meals, drinking, mobility, baths, and provide clean linens and gowns under the direction of the RN.

You will help obtain vital signs, report abnormalities, and maintain safety using gait belts and alarms in a fast-paced hospital environment. Training and a strong bedside manner are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Requires current BLS certification through AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA program
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the patient’s age and developmental level
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient care procedures and standards
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to withstand high levels of tension and stress
• Ability to manage a high workload within limited time
• Knowledge of infection control principles
• Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive movements
• Ability to read and perform basic math
• Ability to organize tasks and attend to details

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with meals, drinks, and linen changes
• Encourage walking and assist with mobility
• Provide baths and personal care as directed
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts and alarms
• Remain within arm's reach to ensure patient safety
