Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Community Assistance Center Case Worker to provide direct support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or financial hardship. You will assess needs, process applications for assistance, and advocate for housing, employment, and stability.

Emphasis is on culturally sensitive service and collaboration with partners. You will administer emergency financial assistance, document service data, and coordinate with POH Case Managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum two years’ experience with low-income or homeless communities.
• Knowledge of local social service organizations in Hawaii.
• Understanding of homelessness and financial or material assistance issues in Hawaii.
• Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and problem solving.
• Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid Hawaii Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client intake, screening, assessment, and eligibility for various assistance.
• Process financial and material assistance per funding and policies.
• Assist clients in accessing housing, employment, and other services.
• Facilitate budget coaching and life skills for financial stability.
• Provide crisis intervention and referrals for urgent needs.
• Refer cases to POH Case Manager when appropriate.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and quality improvement.
• Maintain timely data entry in HMIS, WellSky, and internal systems.
• Support reporting and documentation for funding sources.
