Job summary

Seattle Parks and Recreation is seeking to fill two permanent .5 half-time benefited Recreation Center Assistant Coordinator positions. This role works 20 hours/week at community centers, providing secondary supervision for building operations, programming, and community engagement to maintain guaranteed public hours.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Recreation administration, Physical Education or related field.
• Experience programming a community recreation center or facility.
• Experience in program registration systems and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervisor in planning, coordinating, supervising and evaluating staff and volunteers.
• Develop and advise on recreation programming techniques, materials and equipment.
• Assist in reviewing new programs and policies; coordinate implementation.
• Provide input for annual center budgets; assist with grant proposals as needed.
• Assist in organizing activities of the center's advisory council.
• Disseminate program information to groups; meet with community teams for events.
• Assist in scheduling programs, recruit volunteers and instructors for events.
• Maintain records and prepare reports on activities and registrations.
• Assist in preparing press releases and promotional materials.
• Purchase and maintain program supplies and equipment; perform related duties.
