Job summary

The City of Carson is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time Recreation Assistant IV classification. This role works within the Community Services, Recreation, & Park Maintenance Department, supporting parks, aquatic centers, and the community center with a focus on outreach and program leadership.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication, attention to detail, and teamwork skills, plus about one year of leadership in recreation activities.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of thirty (30) semester units at a recognized college with a major in recreation or related field.
• Approximately one (1) year of leadership experience in a variety of recreation activities.
• Proof of education is required; transcripts or degree image as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assists in organizing and supervising established recreation programs and a variety of other recreational activities such as youth and adult programs and sports leagues.
• Organizes holiday and vacation programs.
• Assists in supervising part‑time personnel assigned to a recreation center.
• Collects registration fees and maintains accurate records of monies received.
• Assists in recruiting and training seasonal part‑time and volunteer personnel.
• Administers first aid.
