Scion Nonprofit Staffing is assisting a mission-driven nonprofit in Oakland, CA, to recruit an experienced Programs Manager. This full-time, temporary-to-hire role leads community-based programs focused on food access, supervises a small team, and partners with executive leadership to strengthen operations and outcomes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of project management experience overseeing multiple initiatives.
• 2–3 years of people management, including direct supervision.
• Experience managing program budgets and grant administration.
• Strong organizational, communication, and community engagement skills.
• Experience with CRM/ERP systems and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations, implementation, and continued growth of multiple community-based programs focused on food access, fresh produce availability, and community organizing.
• Supervise, coach, and develop an initial team of two Program Associates, with potential oversight of additional employees and contractors; establish performance goals, accountability measures, and professional development opportunities.
• Develop, implement, and improve operational systems, program procedures, performance metrics, and reporting processes to strengthen efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
• Manage program budgets, track expenditures, review expenses, and support grant administration, documentation, compliance, and reporting in collaboration with organizational leadership.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, neighborhood businesses, and residents while supporting program expansion, partner engagement, and community participation.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director, Development Manager, and organizational stakeholders on strategic initiatives, staffing, program planning, and operational priorities.
