Job summary

Scion Staffing, Inc. seeks a Deputy Director to help lead a fast-growing nonprofit. Working with the Executive Director, this role translates vision into actionable plans, maintains high-level program execution, and supports strategic direction.

The Deputy Director oversees programs and events, coordinates vendors and volunteers, and builds measurement systems for outcomes. It also strengthens external relationships and supports sponsorship materials and donor communications.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of professional experience in program management, nonprofit operations, events, communications, PR, or related fields.
• Ability to juggle multiple complex projects with strong organization and follow-through.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for C-suite and board-level audiences; hands-on event planning.
• Deep alignment with mission and familiarity with East Asian American representation.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across programs and events, including planning and execution.
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and volunteers to ensure high-quality events.
• Build systems to measure program outcomes and community growth.
• Cultivate relationships across biotech and life sciences networks; boost external visibility.
• Collaborate on sponsorship materials and donor communications; support development records.
• Manage day-to-day operations for a lean nonprofit.
