Job summary

The City of Canton, Ohio seeks a Community Center Manager for the Edward “Peel” Coleman Center to oversee daily operations, rental agreements, and programming. You will report to the Recreation Superintendent and ensure high-quality customer service and safety compliance.

The role requires planning, directing, and coordinating community programs, supervising staff, and coordinating with the Recreation Department on gym scheduling and events.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write and have a good command of the English language.
• Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
• Develop programs that will serve the community and simultaneously assist Canton Parks and Recreation in the mission of supplying recreational opportunities for all.
• Ensure the center is an active part of the community in which it sits.
• Responsible to follow policies and procedures of Canton Parks and Recreation and the City of Canton.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Recreation Superintendent and/or Parks and Recreation Director.

Responsibilities

• Attend to daily duties and facilitate rental agreements for the Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center.
• Manage programming initiatives and supervise Center staff.
• Coordinate with Recreation Superintendent on center operations and gym scheduling.
• Ensure customer service is provided for membership servicing and community interface.
• Assess outcomes of projects and initiatives and make professional recommendations on budget and policies.
• Oversee the rental process for the community room and related spaces.
