Job summary

Amerant is seeking a seasoned underwriting leader to supervise a team focused on Commercial & Industrial and Corporate transactions. You will oversee analysis, risk scoring, and credit policy adherence, coordinating with Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Portfolio Management, and Credit Risk to ensure quality and timely decisions.

The role requires 10+ years in credit underwriting/analysis and at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity, with strong communication and governance across risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Formal credit training preferred.
• 5+ years of credit underwriting/credit analysis experience in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of underwriters; ensure adherence to credit programs and policy.
• Coordinate with Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Portfolio Management, and Credit Risk.
• Perform analyses and review credit memos; support new business activity.
• Monitor portfolio risk, covenant testing, and credit quality across defined segments.
• Recruit, train, mentor underwriters and oversee onboarding.
• Provide credit solutions aligned to relationship risk and AML requirements.
• Prepare documentation and present to senior management.
