Job summary

Amerant is seeking an experienced CRE credit underwriter to provide independent risk assessment and financing recommendations across a diverse portfolio. The role includes evaluating credit risk, preparing memos, and ensuring compliance with bank credit programs and policy.

The position involves annual reviews, covenant testing, and collaboration with Credit Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, and other bank units to support sound lending decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance required.
• Master's degree preferred OR 5+ years of credit underwriting/credit analysis experience in lieu of education.
• Formal credit training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent assessment and recommendations on risk factors for CRE transactions across small to large structures.
• Oversee credit risk management and maintenance of credit quality for assigned portfolio.
• Prepare credit memos and ensure adherence to bank credit programs and policy.
• Perform annual reviews of existing credit relationships and monitor covenant testing requirements.
• Support new business activities by screening preliminary data and collecting required documentation.
• Collaborate with Credit Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers with other bank units as needed.
