Job summary

Rush Truck Centers seeks a Service Advisor for its dealership service department to sell and schedule service work on commercial trucks and equipment. You will gather customer details, conduct walk-around inspections, perform diagnostics with J-Pro, and advise on maintenance per manufacturer specs. A CDL and one year of service experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year service experience or equivalent.
• Manufacturer training relevant to the role.
• Valid CDL license.
• Driving record acceptable to the company's carrier.

Responsibilities

• Gather customer complaint details and expectations.
• Perform vehicle walk-around inspection and verify vehicle information.
• Connect to J-Pro for on-the-spot diagnostics; print reports and reference service history; recommend additional needed service.
• Advise customers on vehicle care and maintenance per manufacturer specifications.
• Write up vehicle problems clearly on a service input card and obtain customer signatures.
• Set promised times based on shop workflow and communicate with foreman.
• Determine customer payment method and obtain credit approval if needed.
• Create repair orders in the system and secure service input cards with signatures.
• Monitor repair progress and inform customers of changes, costs, and time estimates; obtain authorization for additional repairs.

Education
