Job summary

SouthState Bank Corporation is seeking a Loan Assistant II to support the Commercial lending team by directing timely processing and fulfillment of loans. You will handle loan documents, conduct basic issue investigations, and collaborate with lenders, attorneys, and clients to maintain accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has 3–4 years in commercial lending documentation, a high school diploma (bachelor’s a plus), and strong organizational, communication, and data-entry

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree or banking/finance coursework is a plus.
• 3–4 years of experience in commercial lending documentation.
• 3–4 years of Loan Assistant I or comparable experience.

Responsibilities

• Track loan pipeline, maturities, uninsured reports, and past-due reports to ensure timely processing.
• Prioritize tasks to meet processing goals and customer expectations.
• Provide back-up support to other Loan Assistants for PTO and absences.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal lending regulations and Bank policies.
• Collect and organize borrower documents such as income verification and credit reports.
• Input data into loan processing systems accurately.
• Order title searches, UCC searches, appraisals and flood certifications as needed.
• Coordinate closings with lenders, attorneys and clients.
• Initiate disbursement of closing funds via checks or wires.
• Review closed loans for document completeness and proper booking.
• Maintain post-closing documentation tickler system and report status weekly.
