Job summary

Canto is hiring its first in-house Commercial Counsel to build a modern legal function from the ground up. You will own end-to-end contracting operations for SaaS agreements, implement CLM systems, and partner with Sales, Finance, and executives to enable growth with minimal risk.

The role focuses on strategic negotiation, AI-enabled workflows, and governance across vendor relationships and data privacy, supporting a scaling SaaS platform that serves 4,000+ customers globally.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements, including MSAs, subscription agreements, DPAs, and NDAs.
• Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA).
• Ability to build processes from scratch and scale legal infra in a high-velocity environment.

Responsibilities

• Own negotiation and execution of commercial SaaS agreements (MSAs, subscriptions, DPAs, NDAs).
• Lead end-to-end contracting operations and implement CLM systems and playbooks.
• Manage vendor relationships and data privacy obligations (DPA, GDPR/CCPA).
• Partner with Sales, Finance, and executives to align legal with business goals.
• Oversee outside counsel relationships and support in-house growth.
