Job summary

Canto is hiring its first in-house commercial counsel to build and scale a modern legal function focused on strategic growth through contract excellence. Reporting to the CFO, you will design and operate an AI-enabled contracting operation, own end-to-end contracting across Sales, Finance, and the executive team, and implement CLM templates, workflows, and governance.

Qualifications

• JD and active bar membership in good standing.
• 5–8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements (MSAs, subscriptions, DPAs, NDAs).
• Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA).
• Ability to operate independently and build legal infrastructure in a scaling environment.
• Experience partnering with Sales and GTM teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive Commercial Contracting & Sales Enablement across the business.
• Negotiate and execute commercial SaaS agreements with standard terms.
• Scale contracting operations with an AI-enabled CLM system.
• Lead vendor and data privacy contracting, including DPAs and GDPR/CCPA alignment.
• Partner with Security and Product on AI, data governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Serve as primary legal advisor across commercial and operations matters.
