Job summary

Canto is hiring its first in‑house legal leader to build and scale a modern legal function focused on commercial contracting as a driver of growth. The role reports to the CFO and will design AI‑enabled contracting processes to accelerate deals and reduce friction across Sales, Finance, and the executive team.

Responsibilities include negotiating MSAs and NDAs, implementing a CLM system, and ensuring privacy alignment with GDPR/CCPA.

Qualifications

• JD and active bar membership in good standing.
• 5–8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology, in‑house or mix of law firm and in‑house.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements (MSAs, subscriptions, DPAs, NDAs).
• Working knowledge of GDPR/CCPA and related data privacy rules.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiation and execution of commercial SaaS agreements to support fast deal velocity.
• Scale the contracting operations with an AI‑enabled CLM system and playbooks.
• Manage data privacy aspects including GDPR/CCPA and regulatory alignment across geographies.
• Partner with Sales, Finance, and executives to build a modern, tech‑driven legal function.
