Job summary

Canto is hiring its first in-house legal leader to build and scale a modern legal function focused on commercial contracting as a strategic growth driver. Reporting to the CFO, you will design AI-enabled contracting operations and accelerate deal velocity across Sales, Finance, and executives.

Within six months you will own end-to-end contracting operations, implement foundational systems, and partner with Security, Product, and leadership on AI, data governance, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

JD and active bar membership in good standing.
5–8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology.
Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements (MSAs, subscriptions, DPAs, and NDAs).
Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA).
Demonstrated ability to operate independently, build processes from scratch, and scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Drive Commercial Contracting & Sales Enablement.
Negotiate and execute commercial SaaS agreements with guardrails.
Enforce positions on non-standard terms and manage escalation paths.
Train and enable Sales to handle routine negotiations.
Lead end-to-end contracting operations across customer and vendor agreements.
Implement and manage a Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system and playbooks.
