Job summary

Gerry Lane Chevrolet in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Body Shop Receptionist to be the friendly first contact in our collision center. You will greet customers, answer calls, schedule estimates, and keep clients informed on repair progress.

You may assist with cashiering for other departments and handle basic accounts receivable tasks. The role emphasizes excellent customer service, organization, and a positive, can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, receptionist, or cashier experience preferred.
• Body shop, collision, or automotive dealership experience is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet walk-in customers in a friendly, professional manner and check them in for estimates, drop-offs, and vehicle pickups
• Answer body shop phone lines, determine the nature of the callers business, and direct calls to the appropriate estimator or manager
• Schedule estimate appointments and repair drop-offs
• Provide customers with timely updates on the status of their repairs
• Coordinate with insurance companies, adjusters, and rental car providers as needed
• Open and maintain repair order files and keep customer and insurance documentation organized
• Handle customer concerns diplomatically and refer them to the appropriate individual for resolution
• Assist with cashiering for other departments, such as Parts and Service, when needed
• Calculate the customers bill using the dealerships computer system
• Receive cash, checks and credit card payments and record the amount received on the repair order and/or counter ticket
• Make change accurately and issue receipts to customers
• Communicate with callers in a professional, friendly and efficient manner, striving to minimize the amount of time customers spend on hold
• Assist managers with various clerical duties as needed
• Be friendly, professional, courteous and efficient when working with all customers and employees
• Familiarize yourself with department structures & internal procedures for assisting customers efficiently
