Job summary

Covenant Transport, Inc. is seeking a Collections Specialist I to monitor payments, keep accurate records, and support timely receivables processing.

You will manage accounts across collections software, spreadsheets, and TMS systems, coordinating with other departments to resolve disputes and optimize cash flow. The role emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork, and strong communication, with a focus on reducing delinquency and maintaining updated customer records.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting or finance or similar field.
• 1 year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
• Higher education a plus.
• Preferred: Transportation, Logistics, and/or Supply Chain experience. TMW, Great Plains, and/or AS400 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and collect a minimum of $10 million to $30 million in receivables.
• Research short pays daily or weekly and coordinate with miles, rates, fuel, and accessorials to resolve.
• Maintain payment databases and spreadsheets; update information as needed.
• Communicate with customers to request payment and arrange payment plans.
• Update customer accounts in collections and accounting software and in Transportation Management Systems.
• Handle customer disputes to confirm charges or propose adjustments.
• Reduce delinquency for assigned accounts and provide weekly updates.
