Job summary

Airgas is seeking a Collections Specialist in Independence, OH to manage the accounts receivable portfolio, resolve delinquencies, and negotiate settlements. The role emphasizes collaboration with Cash Applications, Dispute Management, and Field Sales to protect Airgas assets.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with a Monday–Friday workweek, no weekends, and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, disability insurance, as well as 401(k) matching and tuition

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Customer-focused behavior, including building positive relationships and understanding customer needs.
• Ability to handle challenging situations diplomatically and professionally.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make independent decisions and escalate issues when necessary.
• Proficiency in Google Suite applications and/or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). SAP experience preferred.
• Associate's/Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a healthy accounts receivable portfolio and resolve account issues to minimize bad debt write-offs.
• Manage and reconcile an account portfolio to maximize collections and identify delinquent accounts.
• Resolve past-due invoices and negotiate settlements as needed; assist in non-payment issue resolution.
• Coordinate with Cash Applications, Dispute Management, and Special Handling teams to resolve unpaid cash and disputes.
• Maintain professional relationships with branch, account, and area sales managers; inform regional managers of issues as appropriate.
