Job summary

Fort HealthCare is a patient-centered hospital and health system dedicated to serving Jefferson, Dane, and Walworth counties. The Coding Coordinator will manage coding workflows, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and related guidelines while supporting CDI initiatives and KPI reporting.

The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, patients, and internal teams, along with ongoing process improvements and staff development within the HIM department.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience with acute care hospital and/or physician coding
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience
• Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Familiar with federal/state coding rules and reimbursement guidelines
• Strong organization, time management and problem-solving skills
• Able to maintain confidentiality and work with HIM leadership

Responsibilities

• Manage coding workflows to reduce backlogs and optimize revenue cycle.
• Lead transcription, discharge analysis, and CPDI scanning operations.
• Ensure timely, accurate assignments and appropriate staffing.
• Serve as liaison with physicians, patients, and vendors.
• Oversee day-to-day coding operations and staff evaluations.
• Assist in hiring, training, and scheduling Coding personnel.
• Research and implement workflow improvements.
• Maintain quality audits and compliance with policies.
• Support RN CDI operations and KPI reporting.
• Provide educational guidance on documentation standards.
• Attend interdepartmental meetings to communicate changes.
