Job summary

University Health is seeking a HIM supervisor who directly oversees outpatient and inpatient coders, coding educators, unbilled and denials clerks, ensuring accurate coding and documentation to support reimbursement and reporting.

In this role, you will maintain expert knowledge of ICD-10CM, PCS, CPT, DRG, APC, ASC and ensure compliance with federal and state laws; you will develop and implement policies, plan improvements, and assist with annual budgets.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's in Health Information Management or related field preferred
• Two years of experience managing HIM processes or coding/billing preferred
• Five years inpatient/outpatient coding experience required
• Expert knowledge of Joint Commission standards and licensure regulations required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises outpatient and inpatient coders, coding educators, unbilled and denials clerks
• Reviews coding and documentation to ensure quality and compliance with regulations
• Develops and implements HIM policies and procedures
• Plans improvements in work processes and personnel functions
• Assists in annual budget preparation and monitors expenditures
• Promotes the health system's guest relations policy
