Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface preparation, measure ambient conditions, film thickness, and document every stage on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, 1+ years in coatings inspection, and comfort working around blasting and spray operations, with careful instrument use and precise record-keeping.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temp, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life against datasheets.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
