Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep, measure film thickness, capture ambient readings, and document the coating process on tanks, structures, and concrete.

Qualified candidates have CIP Level 1 and at least 1 year of experience in coatings inspection, with meticulous record-keeping and the ability to work around blasting and spray

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life.
• Keep daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
