Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work, under the direction of CIP Level 2/3 inspectors. You will verify surface preparation, measure ambient conditions, and document each step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

This role requires current AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year in industrial coatings. You will work around blasting and spray operations, maintain logs, and help ensure

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the manufacturer's data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
