Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of CIP Level 2 or 3 inspectors. You will verify surface prep, measure conditions, and document coating application on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

Responsibilities include measuring ambient conditions, verifying cleanliness and profile, checking film thickness, and ensuring batch data and logs are accurate.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required and current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records, honest about the readings.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
