Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under the direction of CIP Level 2 or 3 inspectors. You will verify surface prep, measure film thickness, and document every step of the coating process on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires CIP Level 1 certification, 1+ year experience in industrial coatings inspection, and comfort working around blasting and spray operations.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against datasheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
