Job Summary

We are seeking a Coating Operator for a temp-to-hire manufacturing opportunity in Worcester, MA. This role is ideal for someone with machine operating experience, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

As a Coating Operator, you will operate coating and laminating equipment used to prepare film products for converting or direct shipment to customers. You will follow work orders, set up machinery, monitor production quality, and help ensure finished products meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate coating and laminating machines to process film products according to work orders and customer specifications.
• Set machine temperatures, airflow, speed, threading, tension, and other operating parameters based on production requirements.
• Load raw materials, add coating mixes, and use hydraulic lifts or hand controls to move and manage materials safely.
• Perform visual inspections and routine quality checks to identify defects, scratches, coating issues, or other product concerns.
• Enter material information into the QAD system for inventory tracking and production accuracy.
• Clean, prepare, assemble, disassemble, and make basic adjustments to machinery using hand tools as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Rate: $22 per hour.
• Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
• Location: Worcester, MA 01605.
• Training: First shift.
• Available Shifts: 2nd Shift, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and 3rd Shift, 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM.
• Second Shift Differential: 10%.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Operate coating and laminating equipment to meet production and quality requirements.
• Follow work orders, process folders, customer specifications, and supervisor priorities.
• Perform machine setup, material loading, coating adjustments, and basic troubleshooting.
• Complete visual inspections, quality checks, and inventory entries accurately.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
• 1 to 2 years of manufacturing, production, or machine operating experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, instructions, job folders, memos, and specifications.
• Basic math skills, including weight, volume, distance, and measurement conversions.
• Ability to make machine adjustments and follow detailed operating parameters.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and socket sets.
• Ability to identify common product defects and perform routine product quality checks.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 70 lbs. independently.
• Ability to move plastic film rolls weighing up to 200 lbs. with assistance.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, handle materials, and use hands frequently throughout the shift.
• Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment and in conditions involving heat, fumes, airborne dust, and moderate to loud noise.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including gloves, safety shoes, dust masks, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience operating coating, laminating, converting, or similar production equipment.
• Experience working with silicone, non-silicone, adhesive mixes, films, or roll-based materials.
• Familiarity with QAD or other inventory management systems.
• Prior experience using hydraulic lifts and basic hand tools in a manufacturing environment.
