Job summary

HDR is seeking a Coastal & Navigable Waterways Practice Leader within its Transportation Business Group to lead federal feasibility studies and coordinate with ports, state agencies and USACE. The role bridges multiple disciplines to deliver navigable waterway projects with high standards of technical excellence.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years in coastal engineering/planning and professional registrations, with a track record across regulatory compliance, design, and project leadership.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional registration such as PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant coastal engineering and/or planning experience.
  • Deep knowledge of USACE permitting and environmental compliance.
  • Understanding of federal regulations affecting navigable waterway projects.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for companywide development, coordination, training, and improvement of technical competencies of channel planning and design staff.
  • Develop transformative ideas with practice leaders to leverage navigable channels and coastal trends.
  • Drive open communication with Practice Group members regarding production needs and staffing.
  • Identify market opportunities with Area Business Development Leaders and develop winning pursuit strategies.
  • Oversee delivery of project services and ensure quality and brand standards.
  • Lead workshare communications to achieve technical excellence and efficient utilization of resources.
  • Advocate for professional development and production tools and methods.
  • Serve as a project manager for major maritime projects and leverage HDR’s global expertise.

Education

Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Professional registration such as PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP
