Job summary

HDR is seeking a Coastal & Navigable Waterways Practice Leader to guide federal feasibility studies and complex navigational projects. You will manage staff, coordinate with USACE and ports, and deliver technically sound studies that advance HDR’s waterfront initiatives.

The role requires a senior coastal engineer with 10+ years of experience, strong leadership, and a track record in delivering large-scale maritime programs within regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering or related discipline.
  • PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years design experience in coastal engineering and/or planning
  • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board.
  • Ability to bridge design, federal regulations and environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead coastal & navigable waterway projects and studies.
  • Coordinate with USACE, ports and agencies to secure approvals.
  • Develop client relationships and pursue new opportunities.
  • Oversee project staff and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain standards for quality and consistency of service.
