Job summary

The Fresh Market Inc is seeking a Co-Store Director to partner with the Store Director and lead the full store team. You will guide daily operations and ensure a consistent, high‑quality guest and team member experience while serving as a visible leader on the sales floor.

You will recruit and develop staff, oversee Produce, Floral, Meat & Seafood, Bakery, Deli, CMS and Center Store, manage sales, margin, labor, inventory, and shrink, and ensure food safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hospitality, or general business.
• Demonstrated success overseeing multiple departments or store-wide operations.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to achieve sales, margin, labor, and operational goals.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Basic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain after hire.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Model and promote our values of passion, excellence, hospitality, and teamwork in every interaction.
• Serve as a visible, accessible leader on the sales floor, supporting team members and engaging with guests.
• Recruit, hire, and develop team members, building a strong pipeline of future leaders.
• Oversee sales departments (Produce & Floral, Meat & Seafood, Bakery, Deli & CMS, and Center Store) to ensure merchandising, signage, and assortment reflect local guest needs and our brand standards.
• Manage key financial areas, including sales, gross margin, labor planning, inventory control, and shrink reduction.
• Partner with department managers to ensure effective ordering, scheduling, and workload planning.
• Maintain full compliance with food safety, sanitation, risk management, and all regulatory requirements.
• Serve as a brand ambassador, representing The Fresh Market with hospitality and professionalism in the store and local community.
• Build strong relationships with guests, responding to questions, resolving concerns, and modeling guest recovery.
• Engage with local organizations, vendors, and partners to strengthen the store’s presence in the community.
