Job summary

The Fresh Market, Roanoke location, is seeking a Co-Store Director to partner with the Store Director and lead the store team toward exceptional guest experiences and strong financial performance.

You will oversee daily operations across departments, recruit and develop leaders, and ensure merchandising and brand standards meet local guest needs. This role requires 5+ years of management and a focus on hospitality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hospitality, or general business.
• Demonstrated success overseeing multiple departments or store-wide operations.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to achieve sales, margin, labor, and operational goals.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Basic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Model and promote our values of passion, excellence, hospitality, and teamwork in every interaction.
• Serve as a visible, accessible leader on the sales floor, supporting team members and engaging with guests.
• Recruit, hire, and develop team members, building a strong pipeline of future leaders.
• Oversee sales departments (Produce & Floral, Meat & Seafood, Bakery, Deli & CMS, and Center Store) to ensure merchandising, signage, and assortment reflect local guest needs and our brand standards.
• Manage key financial areas, including sales, gross margin, labor planning, inventory control, and shrink reduction.
• Partner with department managers to ensure effective ordering, scheduling, and workload planning.
• Maintain full compliance with food safety, sanitation, risk management, and all regulatory requirements.
• Serve as a brand ambassador, representing The Fresh Market with hospitality and professionalism in the store and local community.
• Build strong relationships with guests, responding to questions, resolving concerns, and modeling guest recovery.
• Engage with local organizations, vendors, and partners to strengthen the store’s presence in the community.
