Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking a Co-Manager to run the day-to-day operations as Manager On Duty alongside the management team, with a focus on maximizing sales and customer service.

You will oversee merchandising, security, staff development, and communications; train Associates; handle customer issues; and ensure adherence to company policies. This full-time role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and prior supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
• Previous experience in a supervisor role
• Successful completion of all required background screenings

Responsibilities

• Maximizes profits and customer service by leading assigned category team and operating the store in adherence with all Company policy and guidelines
• Operates the store as the Manager On Duty in conjunction with the management team
• Maintains the physical security of the store they are assigned, and in doing so is a key-holding member of management
• Ensures highest level of customer service and handles customer complaints to a satisfactory conclusion
• Maintains category merchandising and cleanliness and ensures operational efficiency
• Trains and develops Associates and Leads
• Facilitates effective communication to all store Associates through daily briefings and weekly and monthly meetings
• Drops off bank deposit and pick up change order as needed
• Picks up café grocery supplies (milk, baked goods, etc.) as needed
• Consults with the General Manager on associate performance
• Performs other duties as assigned
