Job summary

Nordex Group in Brookfield, CT is seeking an experienced Lead Machinist / Supervisor to lead our machine shop on the shop floor. This hands-on role involves setting up and operating CNC and manual machines, troubleshooting, and training machinists while upholding Nordex's quality standards.

You will supervise daily shop activities, ensure production priorities are met, work with Engineering on tight tolerances, maintain safety and organization, and drive continuous improvement in machining

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in tight-tolerance machining with CNC and manual centers.
• Supervisory or team lead experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and inspection techniques.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and similar tools.
• Experience with G-code and conversational programming.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience collaborating with Engineering and Quality teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day machine shop activities, directing machinists and shop personnel.
• Set up and operate CNC and manual machines per production needs.
• Enforce shop standards, policies, and safety on the floor.
• Assist machinists with setup, tooling, and processes.
• Maintain production priorities and on-time workflow.
• Coordinate with Engineering to develop tight-tolerance tooling and components.
• Ensure parts meet drawings, specs, and customer requirements.
• Mentor and evaluate staff; address performance issues.
• Collaborate with Quality to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Support continuous improvement in efficiency and quality.
