Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an associate to join its finance group, structured finance subgroup, focusing on CMBS transactions. Open to all U.S. offices.

The role involves legal research, writing, client interaction, and collaboration with lawyers and business professionals to achieve favorable outcomes across complex transactions. Hybrid in-office presence with some work-from-home flexibility is expected.

Qualifications

JD from an accredited law school.
Admitted to practice in the state where office is located.
Minimum 2 years of experience at a law firm; CMBS/structured finance or securities offering preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case/transaction preparation and strategy.
Draft well-written, error-free, and reasoned legal documents, including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
Assist/manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution including trials, negotiations, closings, and other activities.
Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships with timely updates and professional communication.
Collaborate with lawyers and business professionals to develop innovative case/transaction strategies for favorable outcomes.
Attend, support, and participate in high-level legal activities including court hearings, depositions, negotiations, trials, etc.
Ensure rigorous compliance with legal standards and regulations and stay updated on changes in law.
Proactively seek ongoing training to enhance legal knowledge, practice technology, management, and leadership skills.
Engage in firm citizenship and community involvement, including pro-bono work for underserved communities.
