Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking an Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) to lead and develop teams within the club, preparing for future leadership tracks in Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience.

The AMIT will oversee audits, onboarding, and training; maintain food safety standards; may serve as Manager on Duty; forklift qualification and ServSafe certification are important. The role supports achieving GOLD standards and member excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic department leadership across assigned departments (Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience).
• Recruit, hire, and onboard team members for assigned departments.
• Oversee labor planning and scheduling aligned with trends, sales patterns and budget targets.
• Drive sales, inventory control, and shrink management to meet objectives.
• Champion Member Experience Standards: model and enforce GAA, GOLD, and service norms.
• Execute operational readiness to keep departments clean, stocked, and ready each day.
• Lead department talent management: conduct performance reviews and foster development.
• Utilize club tools and reporting for data-driven decisions.
• Ensure compliance and safety including food safety and audits.
• Support special initiatives and transitions in merchandising and operations.
• Maintain equipment and facilities across assigned areas.
• Provide cross-functional support across departments as needed.
